How To Build A Self-Feeding Fire – Survival Skill

Last Updated: June 26, 2019

Camping is great!

Spending time in the heart of nature and enjoying some great barbecues can be a lot of fun.

But there are also some downsides of camping, such as setting up a campfire and maintaining it.

While you would just want to sit and enjoy the fire burning, you have to still get up once in a while and put some wood on the fire.

But luckily, there is a great way to build a clever self-feeding fire that can burn up to fourteen hours.

How great is that?

If you love the great outdoors and let’s face it, don’t we all.

Now you can stay warm as toast with what can only be described as this ingenious idea.

Fires need a source of energy and proper ventilation to stay lit.

What Is A Self-Feeding Fire

The premise of this self-feeding campfire design is that two ramps are setup across from each other and loaded up with even sized wood logs which meet in the center.

Once lit, the fire should maintain an even burn over the course of a few hours and even into the wee hours of the morning.

Rigging a grill over the fire would make a great platform for cooking and provide an even heat source which is tough to do with a typical campfire.

As your night winds down, just remove the logs you don't intend to burn and let the fire burn out or just extinguish it on your own.
